Visa Service
Since May 29,2018, the Visa-Exemption Agreement between China and Bosnia
and Herzegovina has been came into effect. Ordinary Chinese passpprt is
allowed to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina without visa. The duration of staying
is vaild for 90 days within 180 days.( Multiple Entries are available). Beyond 90
days' staying, applicants shall appy for the Long-Term Visa.
Information on the Procedure of Entry to (Exit from) Bosnia and Herzegovina
A foreign shall be considered to have entered Bosnia and Herzegovina once he has crossed the state border of Bosnia and Herzegovina, or passed the post where the border control is performed.
A foreign may enter Bosnia and Herzegovina if he has a valid passport or other identification document that he may use for crossing the state border of Bosnia and Herzegovina, provided that its validity does not expire on the day of entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Diplomatic / Consular Mission offices of Bosnia and Herzegovina may issue the following types of visas:
- Short-term Visa (Visa C) - shall be issued for business, education, training and similar purposes, for tourist or other travel for the private purposes, travels to political, scientific, cultural, sports, religious or other events, as well as the travels for other reasons requiring only a short-term stay. It may last no more than 90 days within a six month period, commencing from the date of first entry;
- Long-term Visa (Visa D) - enables the foreigner to enter and stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina within the period of up to six months within one year, commencing from the date of the first entry. A long-term visa shall be issued for a single or multiple entries into Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Grounds for Issuing Visas
A visa is a permit allowing a foreigner to cross the State border which enables him/her to enter and stay in the country for the period specified in the visa or transit through the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, provided that a foreigner meets the requirements relating thereto. A foreigner is obliged to obtain visa before arriving at a border crossing post in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Entry visa to Bosnia and Herzegovina shall be issued by diplomatic / consular offices of Bosnia and Herzegovina abroad (addresses and data on working hours of all Bosnia and Herzegovina diplomatic / consular offices are available on the web site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina - www.mfa.gov.ba).
The issuing visas, terms for entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina, state border crossing and stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina are regulated by:

Please be informed that citizens of the People's Republic of China require a visa to enter, exit or pass through the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, visa is free of charge.
Holders of diplomatic passports are exempted from the visa requirements when entering, exiting or traveling through Bosnia and Herzegovina. Holders of service and business passports of the Peoples' Republic of China as well as holders of passports of SAR Hong Kong are exempted from the visa requirements when entering, exiting or traveling through Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The citizens of Mongolia and foreigners who have a temporary residence in the Peoples' Republic of China and Mongolia require a visa to enter, exit or pass through the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mongolian citizens are obliged to pay visa fees in range between EUR 31,00 and EUR 72,00 respective to visa type and number of entrances.
Visas can be requested by submitting an application to the Consular Section of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Beijing. If all relevant documents are submitted, visa processing time is usually very short. It should be noticed that all applicants shall have face-to-face interview.
Types of visas available are:
1. Short-term Visa (type C)
2. Long-term Cisa (type D)
Visa Requirements
According to the above mentioned regulation and depending of the type of visa grounds for issuing visas are as follow:
Visa C - Short-term visa
Short stay visas are mainly issued for tourism, business as well as other traveling needs including single, double or multiple entries into Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Visa C requirements are as follow:
- Valid passport (passport must be valid at least 90 days from the issue date of visa) and its copy;
- ID and its copy;
- Completed Visa Application Form;
- One photo (Size 3.5 x 4.5 cm);

Invitation Letter certified by the Field Office of the Ministry of Security – Service for Foreigners' Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, or travel agency prepaid voucher for tour groups;
- 1) For a private visit: an Invitation Letter of a relative or a friend from Bosnia and Herzegovina certified by the Field Office of the Ministry of Security – Service for Foreign Affairs

2) If applying for a business visa: please enclose the official Invitation Letter from the company in Bosnia and Herzegovina certified by the Field Office of the Ministry of Security – Service for Foreigners' Affairs
It is also needed a letter from the pertinent company which you are representing.
- Proof of residence (if you are not residing in your native country);
- Proof of sufficient funds for staying in Bosnia and Herzegovina;
- Return ticket or Itinerary (copy of International Driving License, Title and Insurance if you travel by car).
The Embassy reserves the right to request additional documentation.
Visa D - Long-term visa
A temporary residence visa implies permission of entry as well as temporary stay for foreigners in the Bosnia and Herzegovina.
If a foreigner intends to stay more than 90 days in the Bosnia and Herzegovina, he/she will be obligated to obtain the permission for temporary residence from the competent authority during his/her stay in the Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Visa D requirements are as follow:
- Valid passport (passport must be valid at least 90 days from issue date of visa)and its copy;
- ID and its copy;
- Completed Visa Application Form;
- Two photos (Size 3.5 x 4.5 cm);

The Invitation Letter certified by the Field Office of the Ministry of Security – Service for Foreigners' Affairs;
- 1) For family reunification: an Invitation Letter of a relative or a friend from Bosnia and Herzegovina certified by the Field Office of the Ministry of Security- Service for Foreigners' Affairs

2) For work: please enclose the official Invitation Letter from the company in Bosnia and Herzegovina certified by the Field Office of the Ministry of Security – Service for Foreigners' Affairs;
as well as original working permit issued by relevant authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina;
- Proof of residence (if you are not residing in your native country);
- Proof of sufficient funds for staying in Bosnia and Herzegovina;
- Notarial certificate of Clean Criminal Record, re-certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the P.R. of China;
- Notarial certificate of Health Examination Record for International traveler, re-certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the P.R. of China.
The Embassy reserves the right to request additional documentation.
Consular Working Hours
13:00 - 16:00, Tuesday and Thursday
Entry of Juveniles
A foreigner younger than 18 (juvenile) who has in his/her possession a personal travel card may cross the Bosnia and Herzegovina borderline when accompanied by one or both parents, legal representative or guardian, or when accompanied by an authorized person to follow him/her with a written and authorized power of attorney from parents, legal representative or guardian. A juvenile who travels unaccompanied must have an authorized agreement from his/her parent, legal representative or guardian. An agreement or power of attorney contains: personal data on the juvenile person and legal guardian, personal data on the accompanying person if traveling accompanied, the purpose and duration of stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina, period of time of the validity of agreement and signature of the grantor. This document must be in one of the official languages in Bosnia and Herzegovina or in English language and be authorized by the authorized court interpreter if the document is translated. It is considered that a juvenile has in his/her possession an agreement by the legal representative if:
- Travels by air and has in his/her possession a letter of transmittal for juveniles issued by the air operator;
- Is a part of a school excursion, and placed on the list of the excursion participants authorized by competent school institution;
- Participates in a sport, cultural or similar event and is placed on the list of participants.
In case that a juvenile younger than 18 years of age (juvenile) is not accompanied by one or both parents, legal representative or guardian and does not fulfill some of the above-mentioned preconditions from this Article will be returned and delivered to the border police of the neighboring state from which he/she had attempted to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Exceptionally, visa can be granted to a foreigner at the border and as it follows: transit visas (B Visa) for one entry that may last for five days or short-term stay visa (C Visa) for one entry up to 15 days (for reasons of national security, humanitarian, serious professional or personal reasons).
Consular Fee
For the Chinese citizens visa is free of charge.
For foreigners with residence permit in China the consular fee is as follows:

Fees for visa issuance at the border: 50.00 EUR
The minimum amount of financial resources required for the stay of foreigners on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina is KM 150.00 that is equivalent to 75.00 EUR (or equivalent in freely convertible foreign currency) - for each day of the intended stay.
Entering Bosnia and Herzegovina without Visa
Nationals of the bellow listed countries shall be exempted from visa regime when entering and staying on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina up to 90 days: Albania, Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Chile, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Croatia, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Costa Rica, Republic of Korea, Canada, Qatar, Cyprus, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Macedonia, Malaysia, Malta, Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Nicaragua, The Netherlands, Germany, Norway, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Romania, United States of America, Salvador, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, The Holy See, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Swiss Confederation, Turkey, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Nationals of the following special administrative zones that shall not be required to have visa when entering and staying on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina:
- Hong Kong (People's Republic of China)
- Macao (People's Republic of China)
- Taiwan (People's Republic of China)
Nationals of the countries, who are obliged to obtain visa to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina, are able to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina without visa only in case they have approved multiple entry Schengen visa or the visa of EU member countries, or if they have appropriate residence permit issued by the countries of Schengen or EU member countries.
These nationals are allowed to stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina not more than 30 days during the validity period of approved Schengen visa or visa of the EU member country, or the appropriate residence permit issued by Schengen countries or EU member countries.
